How We Research
Every guide on LanternPicks starts with one question: will this fit your bed and your needs?
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with the size
RV beds rarely match home sizes. A short queen can be 60 x 74 or 60 x 75 inches, and an RV king can be 72 x 80 or 70 x 80.
We check the exact size each maker lists. When a size varies, we say so and show you how to measure your own bed.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at thickness, materials, covers, weight and how the mattress ships. We also note the certifications and warranty terms the maker lists.
When a detail comes from the maker, we say so.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after using a product. We look for patterns, like a smell on day one, soft edges or trouble in cold weather.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A topper that is great for side sleepers may score lower in a guide for heavy sleepers.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change and listings disappear. When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have slept on every mattress we cover.
Our guides are not medical advice. If you have ongoing back pain or sleep trouble, talk to a doctor.
